And yes…that means even in Florida (although we’re still waiting to feel it!). My favorite time of year, perhaps because of the beauty it brings, the renewed anticipation of pumpkin spice EVERYTHING, and enjoying great food and fun at local festivals.
For advocates, Fall is the perfect opportunity to extend invitations to lawmakers to attend your local events. Whether that’s a festival or opening day of Fall baseball in the park.
As you know, these events bring families and neighbors together. And they highlight that sense of community. But what’s more is they demonstrate to legislators why your residents have chosen to live, work and play in your city, and what local leaders are doing to enhance that quality of life.
Even though these events are open to the public, a personal invitation gives you another chance to communicate with lawmakers…advancing your relationship. If they are able to attend, go one step further and offer to introduce them to people you know when they arrive.
It’s nearly election day…so they will appreciate the opportunity to talk one last time with voters. And that is grassroots advocacy at its finest!
